We’re Sowing the Seeds for a Great EducationAs a farm-centered community, we know that tiny seeds grow into amazing things. It’s the same with education. One teacher’s innovative idea can grow into remarkable learning opportunities for all students. That’s why we support our schools with donations to the Fort Bend Educational Foundation (FBEF). For the 2018-19 school year, the Harvest Green Your Community Foundation Committee donated $12,000 to FBEF, which provides grants to teachers and staff to support innovative classroom instructional projects, new teachers and staff development opportunities. Our donation will fund library improvements at Neill Elementary, fund the purchase of audio books for Bowie Middle School and provide geometry manipulatives to Travis High School students. Each year, Fort Bend ISD educators are invited to apply for classroom grants. The projects are awarded through a blind application process. School administrators also may submit applications to apply for funding to establish learning projects that benefit students throughout a campus. The Fort Bend Educational Foundation awarded a total of $811,341 to schools this year including 344 grants for $555,661 to support the Grants to Teachers and Schools program; 166 New Teacher Gifts for $16,600; $43,500 in Professional Development Grants; and $97,718 in pass-thru grants. Since its inception, the Education Foundation has awarded nearly $36 million in grants to FBISD teachers and schools. Congratulations to all of our teachers who were awarded grants this year. Whether you are a Neill Longhorn, a Bowie Bearor aTravis Tiger, we will always have your backs! |
