Harvest Green Marks Earth Day with Evening Market, April 22Harvest Green, Houston’s new farm-centric community is marking Earth Day with music, crafts and opportunities to enjoy Earth’s bounty during an evening farmer’s market at the new model home park. More than 1 billion people in 192 countries hold events demonstrating their support for the environment on April 22, and the 1,300-acre enclave is no exception. From 4 to 8 p.m., local vendors and artisans will offer farm fresh produce, herbs and baked goods for sale, while visitors enjoy live music provided by The Beyonders, a Houston-based four-piece instrumental world rock band. Locally crafted beers by Town in City Brewing Company will be available. Vendors expected to attend include Simply Mallows. Big Poppa’s Kettle Corn, Ty’s Spices, Jolly Farms, Great Harvest Bread Co., Big Creek Berries, Fort Bend Coffee Roasters, Panzarella Import Co., Truck on the Bayou and Imperial Bar B Q and more! Enchanted Gardens and Nurseries and Sterling Signature, a lawn restoration company, will be on hand to answer gardening questions. Children can learn about Earth Day and the planet’s natural resources through sustainable exhibits, crafts and other activities. Participants also can chat with Harvest Green’s on-site farmers, tour 11 model homes and visit the community’s Village Farm, where residents can grow their own produce on individual plots. The evening market is just one of the events on the Houston’s Largest Home Tour calendar. The tour, sponsored by Harvest Green developer Johnson Development Corp., encourages the public to visit hundreds of homes, including 120 models in Johnson communities throughout Houston.
