Ring in the (Lunar) New Year Jan. 18Gung hay fat choy! Happy Lunar New Year! The Chinese Lunar New Year begins Jan. 25, but our Farmers Market is getting a jump on things with a special celebration 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 18, at 8939 Harlem Road. Traditional Lunar New Year activities include decluttering (Chinese farmers use the time to get their farms ready for spring but you can Marie Kondo your home instead), visiting relatives and preparing fancy feasts to celebrate. Another tradition is attending New Year Markets to pick up everything needed to ring in the new year. In keeping with that tradition, our veggie wagon will be handing out traditional red envelopes for good luck and our 2020 Farm Pun Calendars featuring photos from our Village Farm. As always, you will be able to select from a bounty of fresh, sustainable, locally grown fruits and vegetables as well as fresh eggs, meats and cheeses from ethical handlers. You’ll also find honey, preserved foods, flowers, plants and gifts! This week's Market vendors include: The Harvest Green Farmers Market takes place every Saturday — rain or shine — from 8 a.m. to noon. On the third Saturday of each month, the market features special themed events. Come out and see how awesome fresh veggies can be. |
