Daddy Daughter Dance Raises $300 for CampDads and daughters twisted, twirled and bonded while raising $300 to send children who have experienced tragedy to summer camp. The soiree took place June 14 in our decked-out Farmhouse. Fathers walked their little princesses down the red carpet, stopping for photos before leading them onto the dance floor. Refreshments were provided by Scotty’s Saloon. The $10 admission fee was donated to Champion Kids Camp, founded in 2001 by residents Kim and Bill Nash in honor of their son Billy, who survived childhood leukemia. The non-profit provides a free weeklong summer respite for pre-teens who have suffered tragedies. The Nashes also are known for authoring chart-topping numbers for Reba McEntire, Eddy Arnold and the country group Diamond Rio. They performed at the dance and even wrote a song to commemorate the event,“The First Man in My Life.” It was the perfect accompaniment to a very special evening. We would like to thank everyone who made the dance possible — especially the fathers who took time out to spend quality time with their girls. You truly are the first men in their lives. |
