A Green School for a Green Community

We pride ourselves on being a green community. Our Village Farm uses organic, sustainable methods to grow our herbs and vegetables. Our builders construct energy-efficient homes. Now our own Neill Elementary has been deemed a LEED-certified building!

LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, provides a rigorous third-party verification of resource efficiency for building projects. The program is an initiative of the U.S. Green Building Council. Points are achieved in the following areas: sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, material and resources, indoor environmental quality, and innovation and regional priority.

Neill is one of three Fort Bend ISD schools to be funded by “green bonds.” Such bonds underwrite environmentally friendly construction projects.

Last year, the district rolled out approximately $99 million in bonds with $52 million designated as "green." The bonds are part of a $484 million bond package approved by the district’s voters in 2014.
