Couture for the Cause Nets $137,000+ to End CancerHigh fashion graced the catwalk, but it was the generosity of the many people attending Couture for the Cause in Harvest Green that was the evening’s star, with more than $137,000 raised (net!) for the American Cancer Society. Included in that is $25,000 that will go specifically toward research to eradicate pediatric cancer. Modeling floral and springtime fashions that fit this year’s Garden Glitz theme were cancer survivors and others touched by the deadly disease. Among the models were family members of Carolyn Williams, a longtime Johnson Development employee who lost her 13-year battle with cancer in 2016. The event was held in her honor. “Carolyn Williams was an incredibly courageous woman,” said Doug Goff, Johnson Development’s Co-President and Chief Operating Officer, during the event. “She was selfless, caring, generous and was always dressed to the nines no matter how she felt.” In addition to the fashion show, which was held on a catwalk suspended over the Farmhouse pool, the event included food from local restaurants, a signature cocktail, music, raffles and prizes. The fashion show was once again produced by Lenny Matuszewski, with hair by Mark Anthony of Milagro Salons, and makeup by LaDonna Marie of Sugar Land Face and Body.
