Loved Harvest Fest? Try Pecan FestIf last week’s fantastic Harvest Fest whetted your appetite for more foodie feasts, we’ve got an idea we think you’ll go nuts for. The annual Pecan Harvest Festival of Richmond returns Sunday, Nov. 19, from noon to 8 p.m. The 2nd annual celebration of everyone’s favorite holiday nut will take place in charming Historic Downtown Richmond with 40 plus varieties of pecans and free family fun for everyone. This year, the event will be expanded along Morton Street to include local merchants who will help you get your holiday shopping on. Then hop a hayride to the farmers market, an artisan market, the baking contest and a classic car show. The festival’s beloved Kidz Zone will be nestled in historic Decker Park, while live music entertains all day from Wessendorff Park’s acoustically designed White Gazebo. Across from the gazebo adults can enjoy local craft beers at the Beer and Wine Garden. Food trucks will be on hand with a variety of street eats. There also will be many opportunities to learn about the star of the event — the humble pecan! Texas A&M AgriLife Extension in Fort Bend County is heading up the pecan education portion of the Pecan Harvest Festival. This includes a series of short pecan presentations appropriately entitled ‘Pecan Talks.’ Topics range from pecan history, health attributes and the significance of the pecan to our culture — past, present, and future. So whether you pronounce it pee-KAHN or PEE-can, we hope to see you there! You can easily enjoy all of the holiday festivities in Richmond then come home to Harvest Green where there will be even more events going on right in your backyard! Come out and take a look at our move-in ready homes so you can be decking your halls in time for the holidays! |
