You Are Invited to Neil Elementary DedicationNeill Elementary, our awesome new on-site school, will have a dedication ceremony on Sunday, Oct. 15, at 2 p.m., at 3830 Harvest Corner Drive and you are invited. Come out to meet Principal Lori Hoeffken and her staff as we officially dedicate our school to its namesake James C. Neill, a 19th century soldier and politician credited with firing the first shot of the Texas Revolution using the famed Gonzales "Come and Take It" cannon during an armed conflict with Mexican troops. Neill also served as a commander of the Alamo, which provides some continuity given that our other two on-site schools — Bowie Middle School and Travis High School — are named after prominent Alamo defenders. At the conclusion of the ceremony, guests will have an opportunity to tour the campus and see the state-of-the-art classrooms, science lab, gym, theater, playground and whimsical treehouse library. Don’t forget to admire their imaginative murals. In addition to being a great place to learn, Neill Elementary is very green (both in our colors and our eco-friendly environment. It was designed to LEED standards and includes green features such as building materials with higher levels of recycled content, energy-efficient HVAC equipment, and heat-reducing features such as light-colored building materials and green space. It’s a day you won’t want to miss! Learn more about our onsite schools here. |
