First 2017 Harvest Green Farmers Market Happens Jan. 21Fresh produce for a fresh new year will be available at the Harvest Green Farmers Market 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Jan. 21. The Richmond community’s first farmers market of the year will feature booths overflowing with colorful fruits and vegetables, including items grown in Harvest Green’s own Village Farm. “We are really excited to be hosting our first stand-alone farmers market at Harvest Green,” said Scott Snodgrass with Houston-based Agmenity, which manages Harvest Green farms. “We are hoping to make this a permanent weekly market in the spring, so invite everyone to come out, support our vendors and make it a great event.” Harvest Green farmers will have a variety of vegetables available for purchase including greens such as kale and collards, as well as rutabaga and beets. Buyers can purchase herbs as well, including sage, rosemary and cilantro. Locally-based vendors will offer additional items including a range of baked goods from Great Harvest Bread Katy, natural soap products from Monica Charles Designs and organic skin products from Salve Naturals. Loam Agronomics will be on hand to discuss their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. In addition, there will be live music and an opportunity to try out the world’s first smart trampoline, Tgoma, courtesy of Spring Free. The digitally interactive trampoline offers fitness training apps, as well as activity and educational games. The market is just one of the many agriculture-based events Harvest Green hosts throughout the year. The 1,300-acre master-planned community encompasses two farms that offer residents opportunities to enjoy fresh produce. A planned Farm Club will allow participants to rent their own growing plots. Homes in Harvest Green are priced from the $240,000s. |
