Fort Bend ISD To Add New Elementary School in Harvest Green for 2017-18 School YearA new Fort Bend ISD elementary school will soon arise amidst the farmland and future new homes of Harvest Green, Fort Bend’s newest master-planned community and Houston’s first with an on-site farm, community and backyard gardens. Scheduled to open for the 2017-18 school year, the to-be-named elementary school will be located within the innovative Fort Bend community where residents will enjoy farm-fresh produce from an on-site farm co-op. Plus, the new school will be connected to the community by several paved, hike-and-bike trails. Harvest Green’s new elementary school will be the community’s third on-site campus joining Bowie Middle School and Travis High School, both of which earned the Texas Education Agency’s “Met Standard” Accountability Rating for 2014. Bowie Middle School and Travis High School also received several Distinction Designations in the TEA’s 2014 ratings. A 1,300-acre master-planned community by The Johnson Development Corp., Harvest Green is located at the Grand Parkway and West Airport Boulevard, minutes from the Energy Corridor and Sugar Land. Harvest Green homebuilders include D.R. Horton, Darling Homes, David Weekley Homes, Highland Homes, Lennar, MHI Homes, Meritage Homes, Newmark Homes, Perry Homes, Trendmaker Homes and Westin Homes. Model homes by each of the builders are expected to open later this year. In addition to its on-site farm co-op, Harvest Green residents will participate in chef-instructed culinary classes, farm-to-table dinners and various social gatherings as planned by an onsite Lifestyle Director. Each new home in Harvest Green will include an option of a ready-to-grow backyard vegetable garden as installed by Enchanted Nurseries & Landscapes of Richmond. Harvest Green also will offer more than 50 acres of parks and greenbelts. For more informationabout Harvest Green schools, click here. |
